11. Close Face Talkers & Peanut Butter

What’s the difference between a leaver and a knob?

What are the serious problems in Scott’s marriage?

What does Dave have against the hearing impaired?

Find out in this weeks episode!

OK guys, look, we decided to try something new. It was Dave’s idea and we all thought it would be super cool. It may have ended up as a bit of a mess. It’s like a Kevin Pollak painting, a mess of colour splatter across your ears.

Is it Kevin Pollak? Is he that artist? … OK I just did a quick Google, Kevin Pollak was in The Usual Suspects. I was thinking of someone else. Oh well, you get my meaning.

10. Betrayal & Star Wars Spoilers

Things start off pretty Dark when Tony learns we may have recorded an episode with out him. Spoiler alert, he doesn’t take it well.

Then by pure coincidence the totally random topic pulled from the hat that definitely exists turns out to be ‘Betrayal’. Now you might think “What on earth kind of comedy related betrayal could they talk about?” Well, so did we.

We get into what you should say to someone after they have a bad set, then move on to the more serious topic of the force awakens movie.

Scott recounts the New Years countdown at The Classic Comedy Club, Dave brags about driving a fancy car and Tony talks about turning down a date with an international comedian.

9. Drunk Comics & Going Over Time (feat. Drunk Comics)

After a BBQ and a few too many beers. Someone had the genius idea to pull out the mics and record a Podcast episode.

Tony was away for this one, because apparently he has a life outside of this podcast. But we try to make up for it with three special guests; Mark Taylor, China Gonzalez, and Brendan Kelly get thrown in the deep end and come out swinging (I’m well aware that doesn’t make sense).

This week the team are so on topic that they are the topic, is getting drunk good or bad for comedy? You can judge for yourself just by listening to this.

For the first time ever the podcast has been edited down, to save your ears from all the drunk ramblings that made no sense at all.

8. Writing & Shower Wanks (feat. Matthew Harvey)

After very nearly having to record this episode in a hostel hallway, the guys show guest Matthew Harvey just how professional they can be. Spoiler alert, it’s not very professional.

Matthew gets things kicked off with some profound wisdom within the first few seconds. Then we cut straight to the core what it means to be Matthew Harvey.
There is some real proper talk about how the guys write their material. Who of the guys are performers who write and which ones are writers that perform. The previous sentence suffers from terrible grammar but will not be changed.

Scott gave Matthew a boner. Tony got a boner on stage. Dave got a boner at a kindergarten and Scott got a boner in a shower scene.

Then Scott ruins everything.

7. Topical Jokes & Comedy Boners

Merry Christmas and a Happy Bloody New Year all you Attempted Comedians and comedy fans.

This week the attempted comedians you know & love talk about themselves. And boy is it a cracker of an episode. This week was the first episode recorded after the pod cast went live and Tony justifiably questions whether he is in fact as tall as the jingle suggests.

The topic of being topical is discussed and Tony attempts to give advice to new comedians on what to do when the topical topic is taboo. That was a nice bit of alliteration there, I’m quite proud of that. Actually while I’m breaking the fourth wall… Does anybody actually read these? Let me know @temptedcomedian. Back to the description.

Also, Scott talks about a bombing on stage this week. Dave recalls what it was like to run a pro gig and Tony gets into what it’s like to be a model.

It’s pretty good, you should listen.

6. Green Rooms & Podcast Intros (feat. Luke Callaghan)

If last week was all serious comedy talk, this week is complete nonsense.
Uncover the mystery that is the ‘W’ in Scott W Long and learn how poor Tony is at guessing middles names, before Luke Callaghan comes in to save the episode.

The topic of Green Rooms is grazed and then Dave pretty much admits that he’s nominated himself for all the NZ comedy guild awards. But there is some quite in depth discussion about signatures and richtomeedles.

And this episode is very special as there is a little bit of this episode in every single episode we’ve published.

5. Selling Jokes & Fly Fishing (feat. Justin Lane)

A real change of pace this week.
The hat doesn’t even come out and the boys get into a pretty serious conversation about taboos in comedy. Our First real guest Justin Lane gets everyone talking about the controversial topics like joke theft, what subjects are acceptable to joke about and that one word that we can’t say.

Big the biggest revelation of all is that Dave has been lying to our listeners for the past 4 episodes.

Also there’s a lotta love for Lovegrove in this episode.

4. Hecklers & Chicken Wings

Oh man what a cracker of an episode. Hecklers are defined, feelings are hurt, more phrases are coined, and we learn the meaning of ‘Butterfly Smudge’

It may be the most ‘on topic’ episodes we’ve done. But when things get off topic, it’s not long before Tony is questioning his very existence.

It truly is everything you needed to know from three people who don’t have everything they can tell you about it

3. Inspiration & Germans

Who inspired them to do comedy?
When Does inspiration strike?
What special moves do babies do when pooping?

This is the first episode recorded at a comedy venue. But with two episodes already recorded it’s obvious that the guys have into a bit of a rut of the same old routine week after week. So Dave decides to mix things up by pulling some German back packers into the show. There is a real, honest attempt to discus inspiration, a bit of discussion about different writing techniques and then things get just a little off track.

Happy Back to the Future Day! Although it’s in the past for you… heavy.

2. Open Mics & Meisner

What is an open mic anyway? Apparently these guys have little to no idea.

They do their best to discuss comedy open mics in Auckland, their experiences and gigging to 10 other comics in and almost empty bar. Then there is much talk about performing in front of famous comedians, the mystery guest (it’s totally John Bishop) at The Classic Comedy Club and of course the Sanford Meisner technique.

Also Al Murray in blue lycra and Dave attempts to coin a new saying.

Are you a counter?
